Library Services for Distance Students

What is ILL/DD?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a cooperative effort among libraries to share resources. Through ILL, you are able to borrow books and articles (and sometimes other items) not owned by Calvin T. Ryan Library.

Distance Students can request print books held by Calvin T. Ryan Library through the ILL/DD request system: https://unk.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/.

Document Delivery (DD) is a service for UNK students, faculty and staff that provides electronic scans of articles.

How much will this cost?

There is no fee associated with ILL/DD.  Calvin T. Ryan Library does not charge for materials it obtains for UNK faculty, students, and staff; however, certain requests made to the Nebraska State Historical Society may require a payment from the requestor.

How to request an item

Username and Password:

Your ILLiad username is the first part of your UNK email address, such as username@lopers.unk.edu or username@unk.edu.

Students - Your ILLiad password is the password you use for LoperMail and Canvas.
Faculty & Staff - Your ILLiad password is the same password you use to login to a Windows computer on the UNKNET domain, or when you connect to UNK wireless.

Borrowing:
To request an item through Interlibrary Loan, you must first register. To do this you fill out the registration form located at https://unk.illiad.oclc.org/illiad .  Registration has three purposes:

  • Entering your personal information into the ILLiad' system means you will not have to supply the information again when making future requests.
  • Having your e-mail and regular mail addresses on file with Interlibrary Loan enables us to notify you promptly and deliver materials accurately when your request arrives in the library.
  • You will have secure access to information about your requests. You will also be able to review the list of items you have requested in the past.
