What ebooks are available at UNK?

EBSCO and Ebrary are the two largest ebook collections available through UNK. A complete list of E-Book Collections is available within the library's "Articles & Databases" portal.

Many ebook titles are also searchable from LOPERSearch and the Enhanced Catalog.

Do I need to checkout an ebook to read it?

Downloading or checkout of an ebook is only necessary to do one or both of the following:

  1. Read the ebook offline, i.e. without an Internet connection

  2. Ensure that you have access to 1-user ebooks from EBSCO or Ebrary anytime during the checkout period.  See a title's detailed record to view usage limits.

Ebooks may be checked out for offline viewing for 7-14 days depending on the licensing terms for that title.

Ebooks cannot be "renewed," but they can be downloaded again if licenses are open.

Are ebooks accessible with screen readers?

Adobe Digital Editions is designed to work with assistive technologies on Mac and Windows. You must separately install/enable these applications. Installation instructions can be found on the respective web sites (JAWSNVDA, or Window-Eyes on Windows and VoiceOver on Mac).

Free NaturalReader may also be used for reading ebooks (as image captures) and other electronic documents.
