Helpful links and search tips for researching UNK history.

The Antelope - UNK's student newspaper

The Antelope student newspaper (1910-2003) is available on microfilm at the Circulation/Reserve Desk.

Contact the archivist for access to the Antelope Index and help identifying content of interest.

It is helpful to limit your search by time period (e.g. 1941-1945). Some suggested topics related to the college and World War II include:

  • Air base
  • Army
  • Draft
  • Japan
  • Marine
  • Military
  • Navy
  • Nurses
  • Recruitment
  • Reserv (without an 'e' at the end)
  • Scrap
  • War bonds
  • War stamps

The Archives (located on the 2nd floor of the Calvin T. Ryan Library) is the home of much of UNK's history. You can see some of the items available in the Archives using the temporary Archives Index. However, I strongly recommend talking to myself, the University Archivist, about materials that are in the Archives, as there is much left out of the Index.
