Getting Started With Library Search

There is a new library search tool at Calvin T. Ryan Library. It includes print, and digital resources. It also includes resources from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, University of Nebraska Medical Center, University of Nebraska Omaha. Our new search tool is a one-stop location to search for books, articles, and more! 

Slide 2: Search Options

There are five search options available in the search box drop down menu. Pressing the blue search button will take you to the search results page.

• Almost Everything @ UNK
  • This will search for all types of items available from the Calvin T. Ryan library. Books (print and electronic), Journals, Articles, Media and more.
• Books, Media and More @ UNK
  • Everything (listed above) except for Articles.
• Articles and More
  • This focuses on articles and Other electronic materials/media from our databases.
• Course Reserve
  • Any items that a instructor has set aside for their class. These items would either be available at the Circulation Desk or through eReserves.
• Search NU Libraries
  • Physical materials available from other NU campus libraries. Items from these campuses can be ordered through Interlibrary Loan.

A direct link to the library search page can be accessed in the Navbar.

• Select Resources
• Then Library Search

When you begin typing your search on the Library Search homepage the five search options become visible.

Slide 1: Sign In

You can search as a guest but for a more accurate search experience, as well as access to online resources, it is recommended that you log to your account.  Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is required to access Library databases and your library account, this is the same authentication system used to access UNK services such as Canvas or MyBlue.

The slideshow below outlines the steps to Sign In to your account.

On the library search homepage select Sign In, located at the top right of the screen.

Step 2: Log In Screen

A window will pop up: select UNK Faculty, Staff, Students. This will start the login process with 2FA.

Slide 3: Two Factor Authentication

The library now uses Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), enter the same login information that you would use for Canvas or MyBlue.

Forgot your password?
If you forget your password use the TrueYou Identity Manager to reset your password.

Slide 4: View Your Account

You are now Signed In select your name from the top of the screen, this will display your Library Card link. Select this to view your library account.
