Library Policies, Guidelines and Procedures

Accessibility

The University of Nebraska at Kearney is dedicated to affording students, faculty, staff and visitors with disabilities the opportunity to participate in the university's academic and non-academic activities by providing access and reasonable accommodations in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. 794) or section 202 of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 12132), which states in part, "no qualified individual with a disability shall, by reason of such disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs, or activities of a public entity, or be subjected to discrimination by any such entity." The Calvin T. Ryan Library provides access and services in support of this goal.

Physical Access

Please note that physical access may be limited due to ongoing construction and refit of the library facilities. We will make every effort to provide access or an accommodation where possible; however, in some circumstances certain areas of the library may be closed off or inaccessible to maintain patron and staff safety.

  • The library entrance is equipped with automatic door openers and a wheelchair ramp.
  • Accessible restrooms and water fountains are available on all three floors.
  • Two elevators allow access to the lower and upper levels of the library.
  • Computers, photocopiers, scanners and printers are available to all library patrons.

Web Access

The Calvin T. Ryan Library is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone. Webpages have been checked with accessibility tools such as the Wave Website Accessibility Tracker and Lighthouse.
