Peer-reviewed journals (also called "scholarly" or "academic" journals) contain original research articles within a specific subject domain.
These articles are reviewed by other experts before publication and share many or all of these qualities:

NOTE: Some peer-reviewed journals will include literature reviews, book reviews, and opinion essays. None of these present original research however!

Several library databases have international news, in multiple languages.
From the main menu, select News

Below the News search, in the Explore menu, you have several options. For news from sources located in the geographic region in which you're interested, select By Region, then a region. You can also select View All Countries, then choose the country of interest. To access news in a specific language, use the By Language option in the Explore menu

To access newspapers by source location, select Map Search below the main search box, then use the Refine by Source Location tools to select countries and/or sources of interest.

For Spanish-language news, both U.S. and international, select Acceda Noticias from the Quick Links/Hot Topics menu.
