YALSA’s Best Books for Young Adults Committee presents fiction and nonfiction titles published for young adults in the past 16 months that are recommended reading for ages 12 to 18. 

From this list, they select the Top Ten Best Books for Young Adults titles from this list.
This award was restructured and became the YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults award.  The same year as it was restructured, the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults was created.
